In 2016, during UC San Diego’s first-ever rebrand, which coincided with an ambitious $2 billion capital campaign, I had the opportunity to design key marketing collateral following the university’s freshly-established brand guidelines. The work showcased here highlights UC San Diego’s vibrant new brand voice.

The Campaign for UC San Diego

Case for Support

The UC San Diego Case for Support was the main printed marketing piece for The Campaign for UC San Diego. As a giveaway to prospective donors, I designed it to share the story and impact of UC San Diego’s ambitious $2 billion fundraising effort. It was one of the first pieces implementing the university’s new brand guidelines.

Chancellor’s Associates

Solicitation Packet

The UC San Diego Chancellor’s Associates is the distinguished group of donors celebrated for their annual contributions that fuel essential campus initiatives and activities. I designed the Chancellor’s Associates Solicitation Packet, a key communication tool for university development officers, to promote the program’s ongoing and future efforts to both existing and potential members. This work was honored as a bronze 2017 CASE District VII Awards of Excellence Winner, in the Multi-page Publications category at 2017’s CASE regionals in San Diego.

Endowed Chair Announcement Cards

Direct Mail

These folded self-mailers were part of a direct-mail marketing campaign that aimed to introduce UC San Diego’s extended community to newly appointed endowed chairs on campus. Sent to key donors and the broader public, I designed these mailers specific to the university’s donor audience. The offset trifold design gradually introduced the recipient to the new appointee, their department, and an introductory message, revealed as the card unfolded.

Summer Session


These two-sided flyers were part of a recurring marketing campaign initiated in 2015 to promote UC San Diego’s Summer Session term and its offerings to students. Distributed across campus, I designed these flyers as postcards for convenient carry and display. And for each version of the postcard, I illustrated and incorporated UC San Diego’s mascots in a way that reflects the fun and vibrant environment of campus life.
