Role: Graphic Design, Pre-press Production
Overview
The UC San Diego Case for Support is the main printed communications piece for The Campaign for UC San Diego. Utilized by university development officers as a touch-point with donors, I designed it to convey the message and impact of UC San Diego’s ambitious $2 billion capital campaign. And after UC San Diego’s major rebrand it 2016, it also showcases the new voice for the university’s mission and vision as a world-leading research institution.

Part of the rebranding effort for UC San Diego included the message of “Continuing the non-tradition.” And to carry the sentiment into the design of this combination file-folder and brochure, I implemented several “non-traditional” narrative, layout, typography, and print-production techniques into its design:
- Trifold file-folder construction to accommodate standard 10″x 13″ catalog envelopes
- Stitched asymmetrical narrative pages overviewing The Campaign for UC San Diego
- Custom die-cut pocket accommodating standard letter sheets and a single standard sized business card
- Super matte lamination with spot UV gloss accents to give the uncoated cover a subtle pop of vibrancy
