Do you want to be in the business of making portfolio websites?someone on Reddit, Probably
No, I don’t.
I’m fine not using React, some headless CMS, or any of the latest and greatest tools available for what effectively is “just” my online brochure and business card. WordPress, Genesis, and a hacked-together plugin with a few custom functions will do just fine. I mean, this is just another blog and portfolio site after all.
So what business do I want to be in, exactly?
Well, 3D, among others. And after catching an episode of the Greyscale Gorilla Podcast, Nick and Chad covered a simple yet important question that we all know the answer to but always forget (I sure do):

It’s a little more complicated than that—I know—but it’s easy to get mired picking the best possible option, without considering the easiest to pick up now.
stupid simple, stupid.
And even though that show had nothing to do with web design or development, it got me to pump the brakes on what I was trying to do with this site. I got lost trying to learn the latest and greatest when all I really needed was something somewhat non-offensive. And I already had the tools ready-to-go to do just that.
So here it is, and here I am (again).
